There’s snowboarding, and there’s backcountry snowboarding – which is the only way Forrest Shearer will have it. It’s the freedom part of the bargain that sends him out at 3 AM to hike up Wasatch mountain faces before conditions are too warm. Despite his extensive list of accomplishments, one thing still outstanding is to hunt for his own food. But that shouldn’t be long now.

 Protect our Winters

Forrest has always had a strong passion for the wild. He is an active member of POW, serving as the organization’s Snowboard Team Captain. POW is a 501 nonprofit that focuses its efforts on legislation regarding climate change. The nonprofit, created in 2007 by professional snowboarder and fellow Ambassador Jeremy Jones, strives to help passionate outdoor people protect the places and lifestyles they love from climate change.
