Before you can be a rodeo cowboy, you’ve got to be a cowboy. And when you’re a Wright, working cattle and riding broncs is what you know. Ryder comes from a family of world champion bronc riders that includes his father, Cody Wright, and uncles, Jesse Wright and Spencer Wright. While some opportunities come along thanks to simply having the Wright name, when the chute opens it’s up to the man in the saddle to get the job done. Ryder not only takes home wins, but in 2016 he climbed 10 places to earn 4th in the world standings – joining the top of the leaderboard with his family. Shortly afterwards, and by just 19 years old, Ryder took home the title of World Champion Saddle Bronc Rider in 2017 and again in 2020 — a feat for anyone, and yet practically a rite of passage for the family.
