YETI Ambassador Tyler Pearson
Tyler Pearson has been kicking up dust at rodeos since the age of seven. And while it wasn’t his favorite at first, his passion and devotion to steer wrestling has turned into an impressive and lauded professional career. Since starting his pro rodeo career in 2006, Tyler won the steer wrestling world title in 2017, 4 National Finals Rodeo qualifications, and an enormous amount of career rodeo wins. He’s also hailed as a tough competitor in the arena and a friend to anyone he meets outside of it. His grit, along with his dedication and passion for the western way of life, makes us proud to call him part of the YETI crew.

Q:

What goes through your head when you first wake up in the morning when you steer wrestle?

A:

The first thing that goes through my head in the morning is the horses. First, I take care of the horses because they are the most important tool and are key to our success.

Q:

Where is your favorite place to steer wrestle?

A:

Houston is probably my favorite rodeo. The atmosphere, the payout, and the way we (cowboys) are taken care of.

Q:

Tell us a favorite story from a day out steer wrestling?

A:

One of my favorite moments or stories would be from 2013. I was 14th in the world and needed to win and I was at Pendleton, Oregon. I ended up winning the short round and average and that put me in my first NFR. But the funny part was calling my wife to tell her we made it. I literally called her while I was still in the arena and she was at Lowe’s and when she got the news she broke a light fixture and screamed out in the store. A pretty embarrassing moment, but one of the coolest memories.

Q:

How do you up your game year after year?

A:

We, (steer wrestlers), always have to stay sharp because our event is so tough. I guess my way of staying competitive is staying around great horses. We stay in the practice pen a lot working on our craft.

Q:

If you could do anything better, what would it be?

A:

Snow ski! I love skiing, not very well, but skiing is so relaxing and nerve-racking at the same time.

Q:

Who are your heroes? Who do you look up to?

A:

My parents would probably have to be my heroes. They have always been in my career and go above and beyond for me and my family.

Q:

What part of you, or what you do, reflects a spirit of restlessness?

A:

My competitiveness. No matter what I do, I am very competitive. I will outwork my competitors.

Q:

If there is any love-hate relationship with any aspect of what you do, can you describe what that is?

A:

Yes, rodeo is very rewarding but also it requires so much of our time. I hate being away from my family.

Q:

What sound or noise do you love?

A:

My favorite sound would be my kids laughing. I could listen to them all day. I like to believe that is God’s way of rewarding us as parents. I am happiest when I am rodeoing with my family.

Q:

What would be your day job if you weren’t doing what you currently doing?

A:

My day job would be ranching. I have around 100 head of cattle, although it can be a full-time job, it can also be very rewarding.

Q:

If you could bring anybody in the world with you to do what you love (dead or alive), who would it be?

A:

It would still be my family. They make me smile when I don’t do good and they are so happy when we do good.

Q:

What doesYETI mean to you?

A:

YETI is a product that you can abuse and use the hell out of and it will always do its job. Toughest product out there.

Q:

What is the YETI that you cannot do without?

A:

The Hopper Flip® 18 Soft Cooler when I’m on the tractor all day and the Hopper BackFlip® Soft Cooler when we travel anywhere. Also, my kids won’t leave the house without their Rambler® Jr 12 oz. Kids Bottles! So there isn’t just one product we love, it’s all of them!

Q:

What, if any, other YETI products do you use? How do you use a specific YETI product in your market? What is your one favorite aspect or feature of your YETI?

A:

In my sport, we are going to several jackpots a year. We will go and set up for the day and that usually takes forever, but now with YETI gear, we can have a chair on our back while pulling a Tundra Haul® Wheeled Cooler with Slick Horns on it for the kids. And a Lowlands® Blanket for napping. YETI just makes it all easier for us!

Q:

What does your pursuit mean to you?

A:

My pursuit is all about the ride. Traveling with great friends and family, enjoying each other, and having a goal. The achievement of that goal surrounded by people you love, that means everything to me!
